A band of fabric of any width which can be plain or pieced, used to frame the interior section of a quilt. When multiple borders are used, they are called inside and outside borders. Borders are an optional design element in a quilt and provide a large area to exhibit your quiltig ability. They can be used to enlarge a quilt without having to piece additional blocks.
