and 22" wide instead of a standard half yard (18" long and 44"
wide). You still receive the same square inches of fabric it is just
cut on the length instead of the width.

A Fat Eighth is a piece of fabric that is cut 11"x18".
Compared to an 1/8 of a yard which is 4.5" x 44". We love Fat
Eights for paper piecing projects or scrap quilts that use small scraps and
especially for appliqué. Have you ever done an appliqué and need just a
little red or just a little piece of green? Fat Eighths fit the bill when
it comes to appliqué and paper piecing.

The name for CatHouse Quilts & Fabrics actually came from Laura's
mother, Sarah. She loves cats (as in kitty cats) and quilts. So when
we were looking for a name Mom suggested this one and it stuck. Just don't
mix us up with the other cathouse. :)
